Frederick Rose
Frederick Rose (1800-1877), a shoemaker from Hanover, Germany, came to Canaan Township, Gasconade County, Missouri, in the 1850's with his son Charles E. Rose. Frederick homesteaded 40 acres on September 12, 1859 in Section 11, Township 42, R. 5 and 80 acres in Section 22, Township 42, R. 5 on September 10, 1859. He apparently returned to Germany in the 1860's after the death of his son.
Charles E Rose
Charles E. Rose (1840-1863) married Charlotte T. McDaniel (1842-1918), daughter of William and Mary (Hollandsworth) McDaniel, on January 29, 1861. Ceremony at the home of the brides parents by James P. Murphy. They had a son, Francis "Frank" Sylvester Rose. Charles served with the 8th Regt. Calvary Vol. in the Civil War. He died in the Military Hospital at Memphis, Tenn and is buried there.
Francis "Frank" Sylvester Rose
Francis Sylvester Rose was born on February 28, 1862. On March 4, 1883, Frank married Ida Bertha Hain (1865-1888), daughter of Fritz and Rebecca (Hollandsworth) Hain. They were married at Shotwell (Gerald) in Franklin County. Frank had a store where the Pump Station Road leaves Springfield Road, now Highway 28. They had a son William Alvin and a daughter Ida who died when she was about 2 years old. After Ida bertha's death, Frank left Gasconade County and married Martha Dawson. Their children were Frank, Mary, Clara, Rosetta. He lived the rest of his life in New Haven, MO, where he worked as a carpenter and basket maker. He died December 10, 1917.
William Alvin Rose
William Alvin Rose (1887-1964) married Anna Mary Schoenhoff (1890-1967) from St Louis, daughter of Joesph and Wilhmenia (Mehrkemper) Schoenhoff. William and Anna lived to be married 571/2 years and raised a family of 12 on a farm southwest of Rosebud, MO that was the homesteaded by his great-grandparents, Isam and Nancy Hollandsworth. He bought the farm from the estate of his grandfather, Fritz Hain, in 1921. William had attended school only 3 years but his thirst for knowledge was never satisfied. He served on the school board of Hinton School, where he had atteneded as a child. He was a clay miner and farmer. Sometimes he traveled with Alva Estes blowing straw piles for the old steam-powered threshing machines. He was one of the first people to play the guitar in his area and played for dances, picnics, and pie suppers. he served as an election judge for the Democrats but was an independent voter. His children are as follows: Joseph William (1907-1938), William Joseph (1908-1969), Leo John, Dorothy Eleanor, Helen Bertha, Mary, Walter Albert, Richard Alvin, Edward Robert, Ruth Elaine, Carl Eugene,Bernice Rita.
Carl Eugene Rose
Carl Eugene Rose was born in Rosbud, MO. He married Linda Sue Clark in 1951 and they had two sons named Daniel Eugene and Dennis Keith. Daniel died April 1, 1972. He then married Carol Ann Hoerath in 1954 and had five children. They are Carolyn Sue, Carla Jean, Cheryl Kay, Cara Lynne, and Curtis Wayne. In 1979, Carl married Dianna Poland. Carl is well known for his musical talents. He has won several awards including the 1975 Indiana State Fiddle Championship. He currently lives in Cannan, MO.
Carla Jean Rose
Carla was born in 1955. She married Johnny Eugene Maxwell in 1972. They had one son Johnny Eugene Maxwell Jr. in 1972. She then married Dennis Cleo Gray. They had a son named Carl Wayne Gray in 1974. In October of 1979, she gave birth to Adam Matthew Gray. In 1980, she married Gary Pat Dowden and had a daughter named Patricia Ann. In 1982 she married Edward Trobaugh and had a son named Robert F. Trobaugh. Carla passed away January 18, 2014 unexpectedly while at work. Although she is gone from this world, I carry her in all that I am until we see each other again. I Love You Mama!
